Suitable doonas, duvets and quilts fit our 27kg washer, and dry in the 21kg jumbo dryer.
Most laundromats cannot take a queen or king doona, and a home washer simply does not have the drum space. Our 27kg extra-large washer gives bulky bedding room to move, so detergent and water reach right through it, then the 21kg jumbo dryer finishes it in the same visit.

Washing a Doona at Spakleen
Four steps, about 90 minutes, and you take it home dry.

Confirm the doona is machine washable and note the recommended temperature.

Put the doona in loosely so it can move freely ($14 per wash, temperature selection free).

Bulky bedding usually needs the 60-minute cycle at $12 to dry right through.

Yes. A king doona fits in our 27kg extra-large washer, which is around three times the capacity of a typical home machine, and then dries in the 21kg jumbo dryer.
No. Most polyester, microfibre and down-alternative doonas can be machine washed, but wool, silk, feather-and-down and some filled quilts may be dry clean only. Always follow the care label on your item.
The 27kg extra-large washer is $14 per wash. Drying in the 21kg jumbo dryer is $6 for 30 minutes, $8 for 40 minutes or $12 for 60 minutes: bulky doonas usually need the longer cycle.
Bulky bedding needs room to move for detergent and water to circulate. Overloading a small home washer leaves damp, soapy patches and can strain the machine. A larger drum gives the doona space to wash and rinse properly.
Yes. Our 21kg jumbo dryer is made for bulky items, so you can wash and dry in the same visit instead of draping a wet doona over the line for days.
